About Divine Mercy Catholic School (DMCS)

We are a registered charity that has operated as a private pre-school to grade 8 facility in the heart of Saint John, New Brunswick since 2002. We have a current student population of 145, with 15 staff members. We are seeking an exceptional and inspirational Principal with a strong Catholic identity who shares our commitment to fulfilling the vision for DMCS.

Job Description

The successful candidate must be a passionate, strong instructional leader who can foster an environment that embodies the best of Catholic education. We seek a principal who is called to lead our rich academic excellence and faith traditions in a nurturing environment.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the key responsibilities of the Principal include:

  • Managing the school's overall general operations.

  • Setting high standards for student behaviour based on Catholic values.

  • Guarding the Christ-centered mission of the school and ensuring that it is lived out daily.

  • Managing the staff and overall HR operations in the school. 

  • Interviewing / screening of potential new students.

  • Fostering an atmosphere that ensures high academic standards. 

  • Teaching part-time as required.

  • Supporting and advising on fund development initiatives for the school.

  • Taking on other responsibilities as required.


What are we looking for?

  • An active and engaged practicing Catholic with a commitment to the principles of Catholic education.

  • 5 years of teaching experience in a K-8 educational environment or related setting. 

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline.

  • Experience as an instructional leader.

  • Exceptional communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in French, while not required, will be considered an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada

  • A letter of good standing from your Parish Priest and a recent copy of your baptismal certificate.
